When I have something to say, here is where I say it.
I blog about music, films, books, life in general, whatever takes my fancy :)

I have fallen in love...
with passionfruit and yoghurt :). Take some plain, organic yoghurt, cut open a passionfruit and scoop the insides onto your yoghurt, then add caster sugar to taste. Absolutely delicious.

Self-Portrait
Just finished a self portrait which I am rather proud of to say the least. The hair isn't brilliant and the more I look at it the more flaws I find so I'm trying not to look at it too much.
It's just a study for my art project but I'm very happy with it :D.
Anyway, I've now got to go spend the rest of the night/early morning doing my second self portrait study. Should really time how long it takes - will help me to figure out how large a final piece I should do... Only got 10 hours to do the portrait and mask in...
Ah well, byebye my little crunchy frogs!

How to detect a stroke [with random comments beforehand]
Well, am in a much better mood than yesterday. Am going to go into town to pick up my photos that I put in yest. Then need to come back and do lots of art work. My new backpack arrived today! It's beautiful. Oh... was going to put a link or picture here to the surfdome thingy for it but they seem to have stopped selling it now...
Yes, it's a sort of beigy tan colour with pink, purple, blue, green and yellow swirly flowers on it :D. Might put up a pic at some point.
Oh yes, the real reason I am blogging - copying from a forward that's been hanging around my inbox for ages. It sounds feasible so it can't hurt to pass it on (but slightly rephrased with better grammar, punctuation and layout).
First there's a little story about a stroke:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics), she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.
Some don't die, they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
[NB: don't know if this is true]
Recognising a stroke - 4 indications
Remember 'STR'
Ask the person to Smile
Ask them to Talk a simple sentence clearly (e.g. "It is sunny out today")
Ask them to Raise both arms above their head
New indication: Ask the person to Stick their Tongue out (if tongue is crooked it's another sign of a stroke)
Well, it sounds fairly sensible so there you go.
Also - another forward sent me a website page for breast cancer stuff. Here's the info from the forward:
A favour to ask, it only take 30 seconds...
The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Please pass it along to people you know.

Am feeling a bit depressed
Just found out that my piano teacher died last weekend. I was really looking forward to seeing him again next week and will miss him a lot. It's partly selfish because I know he brought out the best in me at times, but it's also because he was just amazing, he had so much energy and was just so likeable. I kind of thought it was a possibility but it was very unexpected when he did die as I'd been told he was much better now after being ill for quite a long while.
So I thought I'd leave this note here just to say thanks for the time he had, thanks that I met him, and I hope I'll see him again someday.

The weather
A topic worthy of the British.
Heh, that reminds me of Hitchhiker's guide "Leave this one to me, I'm British, I know how to queue".
Anyway, yes. The weather has been really weird. Last Friday it was extremely sunny, then on the Sunday (and a bit on the Saturday) it was snowing. The last couple of days have been fairly summery (if a little cold) and today it's bucketing down with hail.
All this climate change stuff is making me a very confused non-British person.
Must go now. Going to Carols for the weekend. Got work tomorrow. Ech. Have done hardly any college work, not good. So sleepy.
Going out on Sunday with friends for dinner so that should be fun.
Ugh, awake.
zzZzZzZZZ

Mmm, pint of milk and a yorkie
Haven't done much today really, did basically nothing yesterday. Or Monday. It's terrible, there's so much work for me to do over these holidays and I'm just not getting it done..
I did give myself Monday off and spent the day playing Sims 2, eating, sleeping and watching TV. Tuesday I tried to do some maths but failed miserably, didn't even attempt any other subjects - except Art, I cut and painted a mask so I suppose that's something; spent a lot of the day reading my 'Protector of the Small' series again (Tamora Pierce). Good books.
Today, woke up late again, tried to wake up 8.30 but turned my alarm off, rolled over and woke up 10.30 in the end. I can never make myself wake up early unless there's actually something I have to do. Sorted out some photos for art, re-read my cultural bias notes for psychology. Went down to the corner shop, bought a litre of skimmed milk, a pint of whole milk and a yorkie chocolate bar, the latter two of which I am currently consuming (hence the title). And now I'm trying to write an essay on cultural bias in psychological research; tis going alright despite the fact that we covered it in about one double lesson, half of which I was away in choir rehearsals... So I have very little idea of what I'm talking about. Great fun.
Going to see 27 dresses with Chelsea tomorrow! And then we're going to the chinese buffet at lunch which should be good, haven't really chatted in a while so I'm sure we'll have lots to say.
Yes. Well I'd better skedaddle off and do some work. Hmm...
