News, News, News... um...

Quite a bit has happened so I've made the main points bold so you can see what might or might not be interesting... lol.

Well, Carol's married. Wedding went well :), although at one point I forgot which side I was supposed to stand on and me and Lucie had to swap (we decided to swap places after the rehearsal and therefore didn't practise it before the event...), minor mishap but it was ok. And it wasn't put in the wedding video thankfully :P.
Also was Carol's birthday yesterday :).

Have got my auntie and cousin staying with us again this week :), we're all going to Cornwall at the weekend which should be interesting.

Am currently still obsessed with playing 'A thousand miles' on the piano every time I go past. I now know it off by heart. But I haven't really practised any of the stuff I actually need to do for my lessons and leading on from that, my exam.
Also haven't done any holiday homework... better start asap (probs after the weekend though...) since I really don't have that much time before I start back at college...

Oh, just realised I haven't already blogged it: I got my results back last week. I got Bs in History and Maths and As in Psychology and Computing. Bit shocked about the A in Psychology. Thought I was reading it wrong at first.
I was expecting As in History and Maths, a B in Computing and a C in Psychology so I'm fairly happy with my results :). Am still dropping Computing and taking up Art though. Don't think I could cope with the teachers and guys for another year... the teachers are lovely I just don't really respond to their teaching methods that well, had to do quite a lot of individual looking up of stuff and extra work... Plus if I'm doing Art this year I don't think I could cope with such a huge computing project again, last year it took up the majority of my time, Art's going to be doing that this year...

Still haven't figured out what the problem is with the blogger thingy I was trying to do for Carol - the comments problem.

Went to London yesterday with Mum, Dad and auntie Cathy, was fun :). Lots of walking though. We went around the Tower of London (part way with a tour guide - v. entertaining), saw the crown jewels (which I must say do look a bit plastic... I'm sorry, they really do. The gold is too shiny. I suppose if you held something like that it you'd have a different opinion because you'd feel the weight etc.), saw all the armour and stuff. Saw the ravens. Saw some cool people dressed as peasants. Also went to Buckingham palace. Nice. Seen it from the car before. Hasn't changed much, lol. Went on a few tour buses (well - one route but we got on and off). The first tour host was ok, the second was rather good, the third was chauvinistic and degrading (kept making jokes about his mother-in-law and once refered to an ex-wife disrespectfully; at each stop he'd say 'is anyone getting off here?' or equivalent so he could tell the driver if there was anyone coming down - one mum and child didn't make it known to him that they were leaving until the bus stopped and he said "please put your hand up if you're getting off, I didn't pass a course in mind-reading!" which I thought was a bit rude really). But overall it was pretty good. Took lots of pictures of buildings which don't look that special and also of statues which do look quite special. Unfortunately didn't get any banana cake at the train station (they have the best banana cake slices... I think it was at South Kensington. In one of those little sandwich bar thingies.)

Watched 'The Devil wears Prada' with mum and Cathy yesterday night when we got back. Good film.

Well, I officially have a Saturday job now... which I'm not going to this weekend as I'll be in Cornwall. I need to remember that I'm not free on Saturday's otherwise when weekend plans come along I'll just forget and not tell them...
I also officially have a bank account (though admittedly it is empty at the moment). I've got an appointment to talk about getting a national insurance number... in mid September. Well, it's a first step.
I have always wondered why they make it so hard for them to tax you...

But yeah, such is life. I'm going now. I think I've covered main points really.
Glass paint is annoying to get off windows when it's too thin because it leaves remnants. Just thought you should know.

Oh yeah! I read Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials series. Was pretty good. The last one has some seriously twisted views about heaven, hell, death and God but it is fiction I suppose. I think my favourite would have to be 'The Subtle Knife'. Though you'd need to read 'Northern Lights' to properly understand it. Faves in order would be 2, 1, 3.

Well, I think that is actually it... may blog again once something else interesting happens. :)

Another humour thingy - hearing aid

Seems an elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%.

The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, "Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again."
To which the gentleman said, "Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!"

News

Well, Carol's actually getting married in 4 days!
It's a bit scary... I like her now so I shall miss her :P. Haven't liked her 'til a couple of years ago so it's a pity I'm losing her so soon. Shall still be seeing each other of course :).

Cathy (my auntie) and Mark (my cousin) arrived safely yesterday, Mark's staying with us - I've moved into Carol's bedroom and he's in my bedroom (if you can actually call it a bedroom :P). Talked a fair bit yesterday, heard some news, heard about Hong Kong, talked vaguely about other stuff. So that's all coolies...

Went to Affordable Crafts today and spent forever standing there trying to decide on what paper (and other bits) to buy... quite sad really but yeah. I've got to make lots of cards - Carol, Dan, Kat and Tannyas' birthday cards and a wedding card for Sparkle and Carol. Though I need to remember his name is Chris, lol. Well, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I addressed it to 'Sparkle and Carol'. Yeah... bought some pretty coloured card and sparkly bits and papers :D.

Did some more of my paintings for Tannya yest but decided the second one really was too screwed up so threw it out and am now just giving her one... Need to get it to her somehow. May just put it through her letterbox; hmm... something to think about. Though I do hope to see her this or next week. Probably not this week as I'm expecting to be roped in to do stuff. Like cutting up fruit. Etc.
May still try and meet up with Kat and Dan, they're normally easier to get hold of methinks. Or Dan is at least. And I still have to wrap and give him his present... if I can find it (just another painting - I don't particularly like it but that doesn't mean he won't; hopefully). And his birthday was the beginning of June. I'm good with timing :P. Nah, he doesn't care really. Just don't see him that much anymore :(.

AAAAAAAH! Carol's wedding in 4 days means AS results in 9 days!
*breathe*
Ok. I'm fine. Really I am. I actually do want to know my results so I know whether I'm doing Psychology of Computing next year. Would be kind of useful. Bit nervous about starting Art. Shall be good though :).

Well yeah. That's basically the news.
Bought the fascinators (hair things) for me and Lucie today.
Mummy bought be an absolutely gorgeous little bag (for the wedding) yesterday.

Read about 5 books since yesterday afternoon. Read the Paranoia plot yesterday (one of the first 6 Spy High books) and then read Jake Black, Agent Orange and Calista Green (3 of the second series of 6 Spy High books). All very well written, love those series. Read Wild Magic today whilst travelling around (on the bus, walking down the street and also at home) - first of the Immortals Quartet. Fantastic series. Read it lots of times but doing it again now. Tamora Pierce is indeed brilliant. And you've gotta love Kit (she's a baby dragon - real name Skysong). Well, you have to read it to understand.
Also got out Northern Lights - I agreed to read the Dark Materials series which is apparently very good. I will get around to it.
Um, yeah.

Random rememberance

"This is a non-smoking area. If we see smoke we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action."

Letter about Bob

Just a random thing I found on a humour site thingy:

The Boss asked for a letter describing Bob Smith:-

Bob Smith, my assistant programmer, can always be found
hard at work in his cubicle. Bob works independently, without
wasting company time talking to colleagues. Bob never
thinks twice about assisting fellow employees, and he always
finishes given assignments on time. Often Bob takes extended
measures to complete his work, sometimes skipping coffee
breaks. Bob is a dedicated individual who has absolutely no
vanity in spite of his high accomplishments and profound
knowledge in his field. I firmly believe that Bob can be
classed as a high-caliber employee, the type which cannot be
dispensed with. Consequently, I duly recommend that Bob be
promoted to executive management, and a proposal will be
executed as soon as possible.

* Project Leader

-------------------------------------------------------------------
A FOLLOW- UP MEMO WAS SOON SENT FOLLOWING THE LETTER
(as follows):

...That idiot (Bob) was reading over my shoulder while I wrote the
report I sent to you earlier today. Kindly read ONLY the odd numbered
lines (1, 3, 5, etc...) for my true assessment of him.

David and Goliath, Inc

There are several anti-'David and Goliath, Inc' articles saying that the slogans are hate-encouraging.

I must personally say that there are a lot of the t-shirts sold by David and Goliath Inc which I do not like or approve of but some of the slightly derogatory ones are actually kind of amusing as long as you don't take them seriously (you will see some below).

Ones like 'Boys have feelings too, But who cares?' and 'Hating you makes me feel warm inside' I do not approve of but ones like 'Boys are stupid, throw rocks at them' I find quite amusing. People are unlikely to take the rocks one seriously whereas the other one can be very hurtful. Also I don't approve of some of the more sexually-implying ones which are just a bit gross despite the cute colours and patterns used.

Lots of cool designs of David and Goliath, Inc which I like...

These first 8 are ones that I love and would happily wear on a t-shirt/bag/other.

I think someone I used to know owned/owns a t-shirt with the blonde one on it. If I was blonde I would so wear that!
The other three are ones I can totally relate to...

Would definitely wear the skull pjs. Would possibly wear t-shirts with the other designs on them, they are rather cool :P.

I might wear pjs with these on them but probs not t-shirts in general. Though they are rather cool :P.

So there you go, some that I like very much, there are more. They are rather cool.
To go see some for yourself click here.
Byebye :)

Girly Confessions

Yes, this is another of those annoying myspace bulletins that goes round. I'm a bit bored. And didn't feel like putting it on myspace. Don't ask me why, I don't know. It might be because I like Blogger more...

If you're a girl, fill out this girls confessions, and put an 'x' next to each that apply. Have fun!
Actually, don't bother.

[ ]I'm easy.
[x] I do wear make up.
I don't really see how this is a 'confession'.
[x] When I walk by mirrors, I can't help but look.
Maybe it just seems that way - I don't know they're mirrors until I look.
[ ] I sleep walk
This one is not particularly 'girly' is it? Well, I've left it blank but I have sleep-walked at least once in the past.
[ ] I talk in my sleep and know that I am whilst im doin it.
[ ] I have a boyfriend
Um, this isn't a confession unless he was a secret boyfriend who noone knew of or ever saw.
[?] I want a boyfriend.
Need to think about that one.
[x] I wear toe nail polish.
Oh yes, and it's my most sacred secret! Feel honoured to hear this confession (?!)
[x] I wear nail polish.
See last comment.
[x] I have cried at a movie theater.
This is one of the first that I think may actually come into the category of 'girly confessions'.
Yeah, sad films make me cry.
My right eye watered yesterday at Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix but I don't think that counts... :P

[x] I love chocolate.
Well duh.
NB: Did you know that having chocolate melt on your tongue actually gives you more of a 'buzz' than passionately kissing? (i.e. did you read that msn article?) Just thought it was an interesting fact. There you go.

[x] Getting a flower makes me smile, especially for no reason.
Girly but possibly not a confession?
[ ] I've wrecked a car.
Seeing as I can't drive and am not an underaged joy-rider I would say that one would have to be a no.
[x] I can put mascara on without opening my mouth.
Yeah, it's not that hard. Habitually I do open my mouth though.
But often I'm talking while putting mascara on (only rare occasions - I rub my eyes too much and look like a panda; Not that I have anything against pandas, Actually they're really cool).

[ ] I'd do anything for a special guy.
If you say 'I'd do anything' that includes EVERYTHING. I wouldn't lose all my common sense over one person, no matter how special they are. Would you really lie in a box filling up with water until you drown 'for a special guy'? Because that's included you know.
[x] I love cuddling.
[ ] I think Channing Tatum is gd lookin.
I think I do not know who Channing Tatum is.
[?] I think Tom Cruise is gd lookin.
Ish. I dunno. But I know I don't approve of his scientology principles, does that count?
[x] I think Orlando Bloom is gd lookin.
Yes. Obviously. :P. Legolas, Will Turner, good acting, etc. It's good :)
[x] I love to laugh.
Laughing cheers you up. It's great :D. Except when you laugh so much you cough. And then you cough so much your spleen falls out. And then you die.
[ ] I've flashed/mooned someone/some people.
No! (Though I see that my lovely Kat who I copied this off has... oh dear)
[x] I like rock.
[?] I like rap.
I always say I like any kind of music but I'm not sure. Rap's ok but it's not my favourite type of music, I suppose.
[x ] I like pop.
[x] I carry a purse/bag everywhere.
Yeah, I'm one of those people who overpacks for everything (though I'm getting over it), therefore I will always have a bag with me.
[x] I drink.
If you don't drink you die. Stupid question.
If you mean alcohol than I do drink it once in a while I just don't get smashed and consequently do things I later do not remember and regret after I'm told of them.

[ ] I own a Spice Girls CD.
Surprisingly no, I was in the spice girls era though.
[ ] I own an ipod.
Unfortunately no. I don't have any of these sort of music things, I just have the old fashioned CD player which I hardly take anywhere.
[ ] Football isn't boring / but can b if its nt England playin.
Hmm, well I corrected most bad punctuation/grammar in the other ones but this one I don't really understand so I'll leave it.
Football is boring though. And why yell at a TV screen? They CAN'T HEAR YOU.

[?] I love boys.
I love boys who are my friends, does this mean I love boys in general? I wouldn't love all boys, that would just be silly. Some boys are complete morons.
I don't think I can really say 'I love boys' when I was contemplating getting that t-shirt that says "Boys are stupid. Throw rocks at them."
But then I have got a badge on my bag which says "I ♡ kiwi boys" so I don't know. Difficult one that. Debatable.

[x] Sweet guys are better than hot guys
And most hot guys seem to know they're hot and therefore be quite egotistical.
[x] I prefer sweet hot guys.
Well, if you get the mix then why not? Personally I would prefer sweet cute guys as opposed to hot. Hot seems like more of the affair sort.
[ ] I prefer sweet bad boys.
Bad boys as in they stole the last cookie, yes. Bad boys as in they stole the last diamond and ended up in jail for a few years, no.
[?] Lipgloss is better than lipstick.
Well, lipgloss is more versatile. Lipstick can be bolder and therefore rather cool too.
[ ] I can't leave the house without makeup.
I can. This is shown by the fact that I did this morning and have done so almost every day this year on my way to college. I've found that putting on makeup ends up with me at college with no makeup on anyway because it wore off on the way - walk, train, walk, get there. It's really not worth the effort.
[x] I know how to be a bitch.
Yes, I do. That doesn't mean I use this knowledge. Except perhaps when I am PMSing.
[?] Im dont let pple wlk all ova me
Lol, I thought I'd leave this terrible spelling for people to be amused at. Oh dear. I assume what they mean is 'I don't let people walk all over me' however they seem to have translated it slightly wrong. If my rephrasing was indeed the questions than I would have put '?' because sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Though I'm learning not to now.
[?] I play video games, even when there are other people around.
Not video games as such but I have played pokémon in the same room as Carol before. I play computer games in the same room as people. But I'm not rude enough to be doing it while they're talking to me (unless they insist they don't mind).
[x] My real friends are the best, and they're important to me.
[?] I can be wild and crazy
I have been known to be crazy but I'm not sure about this 'wild' part. Define wild.
[x] I dream too much
[ ] I really want to be with a certain someone right now.
[ ] I smoke way too much
Yes because I plan to inhale tar, nicotine and other damaging substances into my body until I cause myself to end up with lung cancer. Doesn't that sound appealing?!
[ ] There's only 1 person I Want!

After a while I forgot that this was supposed to be a 'confessions' thing and just took it as a quiz. Well, quite a lot of them aren't really 'confessions' but oh well, if it's creater uses such terrible grammar and punctuation, what can you expect?
