The pigeon or the statue?

Some days I'm the pigeon, other's I'm the statue. But in general I'm just a bit like a rather confused frozen pigeon...

Today was one of those days. I don't really know what I feel like, sort of just very confused and tired. I spent the morning talking over video call to Sarah in NZ which was good catching up even if we only talked about films really and Johnny Depp in various films lol. Then went off to town, got the passport sized photos I needed and cut them up, put one in the student train fare thingy I need to send off tomorrow and I stuck one on the form which I got from the Post Office (after waiting for like half an hour in the increasingly long queue) to get an Oyster Card - seeing as I've lost mine and have no idea where to find it as I've tidied everywhere and it still seems non-existent. So I went home, stuck everything together in an envelope for the train fare thingy and filled out the form for the oyster card, stuck on my photo, now I've got to wait til tomorrow night when Dad'll be back to make him sign it then I need to take my passport down to the Post Office, wait in an inevitably long queue again and sort it all out, send it off and please please please recieve my oyster card as soon as humanly possible.
Other things I did in town were buy lunch at Greggs, that was nice, went to the library, swapped some books, realised I had an overdue book - music score- but will have to return that tomorrow, was due three days ago, normally my books aren't overdue but with stuff going on I haven't been to the library in quite a while. Um... also went to Oxfam when I was on my way to the Post Office and ended up buying Pride and Prejudice (79p) which I've read but wanted a copy of for quite a while and also the book of Small Talk (also 79p) which Dan got Tannya for her birthday so I've read it (well Dan read it to me - it was my idea as I found the book when we were shopping for her present so I obviously approve) but I wanted to get it anyway as it was cheap (originally £3.99) and was in pretty good condition and I wouldn't mind reading it again. It's a fantastic little book with rather amusing comments from various children between the ages of 4 and 11-ish and their views on Romance/Marriage, God, Family, Pets, Babies and I think that's it... Yeah so comments like: "My grandad said he doesn't like women so we got him a cat" and (Dan and Tannya's fave): "Mums have to love their babies in case when they grow up everyone hates them" or something of the like.
Walked into town and back out so that was good, normally I only walk one way and bus back but I made myself walk back because it's good for me.
So yeah all in all my day was pretty good but then I felt all depressed and stuff when I came home and I'm not even sure why so then I ate ice cream (I tend to comfort eat, which is not a good habit when I'm comfort eating from being teased about my weight lol, but I cope), I think it might have been because some random guy on a motorbike went 'hey fat girl' as I was walking home or because I saw that idiotic girl from the school I used to go to who thinks it is very amusing to call me ching chong and laugh at me, she also once poked me in the bum with a pencil on my way out of school, I think it must be because of my half chinese ethnicity as 'ching chong' seems to be her way of expressing her feelings for the chinese, a rather stupid version of a perfectly intricate and on my part I think rather interesting language which I'd like to learn sometime if possible. How mature of her.
Aah, how nice it feels to rant. Feel quite a lot better now actually *grins*
So yeah, watched parts of 'A walk to remember' again today whilst writing a to do list of what I want to complete these holidays:
  1. Do more crafty stuff (like arty crafty not sly crafty, though that could be fun) - cards, possibly start scrapbooking or something.
  2. Go swimming
  3. Earn and Save money - choose a target and a deadline (Have decided on trying to save £30 between now and results day for my GCSEs - so far I'm on £5 and have about £1.50 or something left in my wallet lol)
  4. Eat more fruit, veg and drink more water (I've got out a book on how to conceal veggies in food, technically so 'your kids' will eat it without realising but I just want to read it, no matter whether I use it for meals for me or not it should be quite useful to read anyway.
  5. Apply/Get Oyster Card - working on this one
  6. Apply for Student Train Card - just need to post off the letter tomorrow
  7. Do more paintings - Family? Wall/Hall of Fame idea? (Dan's idea that I should put all my ideas together as a 'wall of fame' sort of thing, only problem is that all my acrylic portraits so far have been done as presents and therefore given away to various friends. But I could always try and start one, I find it hard to do paintings with no particular purpose so if I made this my purpose then.. it could work!)
  8. Write a list of all the books I've read (Realised this is probably a rather ridiculous thing to try and do as I'm sure I've read at least 200 books if not 300 so will not be able to remember them all. Might start recording which ones I'm reading from now on and whether they were good or not etc. Might do little reviews on some of them if I can be bothered)
  9. Any more baking? (Sort of gave up on baking for a while and I'm not sure if I'm going to try to do anymore these hols, might do but probably not much if I do decide to)
  10. Write a list of things I want to complete in my lifetime (Started this one, again it'll have to be a work in progress I think)

So yeah, I feel like I've completed quite a bit today and yeah... (Just realised how much I say 'yeah' how strange) So I'm off now, too many books to read and should really get to bed oh yes and I need dinner. Forgot about that. I'm sure I can make something...

Catching up...

Well... where to start. I'll start from today and work backwards.
Today I've done very little, woke up 5 minutes after I was supposed to be at church for welcome team and sort of raced out of the house after changing clothes and grabbing my bag from last night which had essentials (keys, wallet, phone). Went to church, handed out the bulletins then went out with the kids to help out with the sports day thingy, there were practically more helpers than there were kids at the beginning! But then quite a few left when they realised they weren’t needed and stuff because some wanted to be there but others were just coming because they thought more helpers were necessary. So yeah, stayed in there, did very little but enjoyed watching the kids having fun. They had a sack race in which one of the boys leaped out of his sack on the last bound and came second (out of 4), along the way he hadn’t held up the sack and so had been jumping with it around his ankles… Rather odd child but yes. They also had an egg and spoon race which was amusing to watch, games with beanbags - balancing them on their heads while racing and at the end one of those games where the kids sit in two lines and each have 2 ‘names’ which when they hear them they run around the line and back to their places, I think it’s a version of ladders, but in this group they were being told a story about the zoo and stuff and some were various animals others were humans (named after the group leaders and ‘the zookeeper’) and so had to run around when they heard their names. The story was about a little escape when the group visited the zoo and they had to recapture the animals and put them back in their cages and at the end it all turned out to be a joke by two of the leaders who started it off by releasing the monkeys. So yeah lol.

Yesterday I went to Rosie's dress up 16th birthday party, got there at 3.10 pm ish. And that was fun, we played pin the tail on the donkey (or rather stick the sticker of a tail on the picture of the donkey) and I didn't get on the poster, whoops lol. Kat should have won I think, I put my sticker on about 2 inches from the side of the poster, Kat's was on the fence around the corner from the poster lol. Also played pass the parcel, Claire won a toy car and Dan won a pretty, girly pink headband (which he wore for quite a while lol). Oh yes, Dan came as the mad hatter (I made the hat, he designed it :) difficult to walk through doors with it on though lol, with lots of playing cards stuck to it, I've got it now since Dan didn't really want it. The walking stick I made got a bit shredded as the evening went on, lol, as we expected and I've got the cardboard monocle too - Dan looked good, will put pics up somewhere...) and I came as Alice (black dress, shrug and white apron). Curt dressed as a chav - from 'Pirates of the Chavibbean' as Dan put it, Kat was a fairy (with great wings!), Tannya and Bizkit were pirates, Clarky was just normal but he got away with it as I think he only got back from Florida that morning or the night before, um... Rosie was Minnie Mouse but then ended up as a strange cross between several outfits as she wore the rubber bikini thingy on a belt that Luke brought her, Luke was a vampire, Graeme wasn't anything I don't think, same with Carly, Emma was told to tell everyone she was from princess diaries (just in a pretty blue velvet dress, could have been from several things), Claire came as a cowgirl and Sam came in a gorgeous turquoise sari but ended up wearing bits of everyone's costumes, my apron, Claire's sparkly purple cowgirl hat, Clarky's glasses (just while he played pin the tail on the donkey), Tannya's t-shirt (don't worry she had a tank top on underneath lol), Kat's wings, Bizkit's belt, Dan's hat (before she got Claires, then she wore Dan's monocle on the wire as a necklace instead), Rosie's underwear belt, Emma's shoes and Carly's hairband. Not sure if she had stuff from the others. So yeah overall it was pretty good, quite fun, though right at the end of the evening (10ish), entertainment dwindled to people playing pass the icecube... how hygienic. So yeah, then left, got a little sleep and yeah.

Friday was Kat's party and it didn't go quite as well as hoped, Kat had a good time which is the main thing, it was supposed to be sort of Tannya's party too but now Tannya's saying she's going to have a little thing nxt fri down by the river or something. But yeah, so basically everyone piled into this cramped-ish flat, the lounge had porn posters which were rather vomit-inducing, I ended up in the kitchen as it was a little cooler (it was really stuffy in the flat), there was little smoke and my friends ended up in there. Some people left early -Tash and Graham, not sure who else, and I can't say I really blame them. I stayed in the kitchen for the whole evening with Tannya and Dan and various other people, apart from when they went out with other people to get air - or rather so the others could buy fags, I couldn't get out of the house as people blocked my way and stuff so I just went back to the kitchen. So all in all it wasn't that great. Dan and Tannya thought they were staying over somewhere but then Kat didn't really tell them where or offer anywhere else so I asked and they were allowed to sleep over at mine. We sort of only got about 2 hours sleep but had some rants watched a DVD (Princess Diaries 2, with Dan’s morbid commentary - ‘What if she died now. She dies, the end, what a happy little story’ - fair enough as we had to force him to watch it, lol), found out the Dan and Tannya’s ‘inner princesses’ are dreamers and they’d better not have their heads in the clouds as to miss their true love. Lol, rather amusing. So yeah the sleepover made up for the bit of boredom at the party (Not blaming Kat) and was very fun :D.

Yes, I felt like blogging today so I am. I've really got quite a lot to do I'm just being lazy... well not lazy per se I have walked for about an hour in all today plus done a load of washing, took in another load of washing, bought canvases, finished a painting and in between times found time to eat. But being lazy in the fact that I should really be working on the paintings I need to get done, taking more washing out/putting more in or tidying my room for the girl who's going to be sleeping in it next week (child of my mum's old friend from NZ - well not really child, I think she's 18, her brother's also coming to stay except he has to stay downstairs in the lounge). So yeah.

Fashion

I've found that I actually have a rather odd fashion taste sometimes. I like dark green with dark aubergine purple. I like black. My favourite uninteresting top is a plain black reversible tank top (I actually have two) which is useful to go under so many different tops and also looks good on it's own; But my favourite interesting top (at the moment - summer) is my lovely kimono top which is basically like a wrap top (but without having to wrap it - just the look) , white with black around the edges and black oriental patterns on it, it has elbow length big 'open' sleeves and I really love it, though when I wear it with my funky 'cupcake' skirt people sometimes do ask me if I've got anywhere special I'm planning to go soon lol, it looks a bit formal but it's really cool :). And today I wore something my mum bought in the BHS sale - I wore my 'cupcake' skirt, my reversible black tanktop (I always wear it with the high side at the front) and... - it's a see through white/cream long sleeved top that goes in at the cuffs and in at the bottom with elastic, has a wide and not too deep v. neck and buttons (sewn on - just for decoration) and a flowery design all over. It looks a bit old-fashionedy, like one of the victorian undergarments or something, like bloomers but for the top lol. Yeah. I'm a bit... eclectic with my fashion sense.

Anyway... back to the fwdy things
I think I'll make my own fwd (based on the first one on this ^ )
Something like it, just not dirty...

Grr... Screwy Computer

Well as it says in the title, my computer is screwy which is annoying. I was halfway through this post when it restarted... Yeah anyway, catching up.
Yesterday I went with my family (and Sparkle) to see off my mummy who's gone to Malaysia to see family and friends. That should be very fun for her which is cool. She's left me at home (oh and Carol - sometimes) to fend for myself. Ah nevermind, I'll cope. I've just managed to get the washing machine to work *looks proud* lol. Yeah... I'm going to my cousin's to sleep over tonight because my mum's gone as I said, Dad won't be back coz it's Monday and Carol's gone off to the beach with old classmates to hang out (til late at night) and so I'm off to stay at Rach's, which should be fun :). Oh yes, after we dropped off mum we went to the supermarket to buy desserts and stuff and I also ended up buying two DVDs -as you do-, Ella Enchanted and You've got Mail. Both excellent films, I'm a bit of a DVD-aholic.
On Saturday I went to the church barbeque (Carol's church, not mine). I hardly knew anyone except Carol, Sparkle and Simon (who actually goes to my church). There were more teens then I expected, thought there'd just be two, me and that guy who's 'in' the services - Altar boy? No idea what you call them. In all I think there were about 5 teens, though I -being the self-conscious and a bit unconfident person that I am - didn't actually speak to any of them and instead hung around with Carol and Sparkle. Yeah so there was very nice food, very nice dessert (mm... yellow/orange fruit cheesecake - lemon? orange? Possibly orange and lemon... *ponders*) and um... interesting entertainment. It began with some adults, two with guitars and three singing, doing various songs by the beetles, then went down to the young'uns, kids about the age of 7 standing and singing bits of songs, one boy in particular had a very good voice, was confident and loud, though he didn't know all the words, at least his enthusiasm showed through. After that it deteriated to some of the kids (same age) standing and yelling things into the microphone - e.g. "You're a duck! Duck DUCK DUCK!!!", one child also spitting into the microphone and another dropping it. So yeah... interesting. At the end there was a raffle for people who had bought tickets (we hadn't), not sure what people won... Then there was a spot prize for everyone there (there were about 90-odd people) for two bottles of champagne (for two winners), the first went to someone I don't know (unsurprisingly), a woman in her fifties I think... and then the other bottle went to me! I was rather surprised lol. Haven't opened it yet, it's sitting in our fridge, mum said I should wait til she gets back but that's a month away lol so I dunno what I'll do.
Anyway, better go now, so much to do - painting, washing, hanging out, changing, packing stuff to take to Rach's, tidying etc.
Tata.

Oh yes... Normal update

Yeah, on a boring lifestyle note.
Bit disappointed as I'm most probably not going NZ-wise now :(
Mum was saying because of Dad not being able to take any more time off work or whatever if he goes and pricewise it's still a bit etc. :(. Tried not to get my hopes up but it's hard not to get any hopes at the prospect of going home to the place I've wanted to go to for so long...
Heh, reminds me of the thing in Pride and Prejudice:
"Jane, he danced with you half the night and stared at you for the rest of it"
So, I spent 11 years living in NZ and 4 years wanting to go back there - the year in between I spent going 'ooh look' at the strange new things in red brick country.

Oh yes, yesterday our family, Sparkle (Chris, Carol's fiancé) and Auntie Sarah (Sparkle's mum - not a literal 'Auntie) went down to a lovely pub thingy place and had a lovely meal, lovely dessert and a lovely walk down the river. It really made me want to go swimming (not in the river, it's icky, in a swimming pool) or go canoeing/kayaking (which I haven't done in ages...) pity we didn't get to since it's not that often I go into 'exercise' mode, lol. Yeah.

Oh, progress on the cooking front: Decided not to do the Jewel Cake as it's a bit too confusing, done a sponge, covered it in butter icing and that was nice, not going to do the Ladybird cake as there's no particular occasion and it's difficult, got ingredients for Brandy Snaps (Which I'll hopefully do today) and Blueberry muffins to do this week. So after this I'll just have the cheesecakes to do. And then will have to find more recipes, lol.

Want to do some iron on printed things off the computer for some t-shirts, or alternatively a more difficult but longer lasting screen printing thing but that takes more time, effort and stuff to buy, ah the difficult choices in life...

Ah yes, just remembered I need to send Tash photos! I kept forgetting, have already organised which to send just need to do it...

33 things kids should do before they're 10

Found this here and decided to have a look through and see which ones I did myself before I was 10 :).

1. Roll on your side down a grassy bank
Definately
2. Make a mud pie
Yep
3. Make your own modelling dough mixture
Playdough, yeah.
4. Collect frogspawn
What exactly is frogspawn? Tadpoles? If so then I've seen them and stuff but not collected them myself.
5. Make perfume from flower petals
Probably
6. Grow cress on a windowsill
A school windowsill, yes.
7. Make a papier mâché mask
Yep :D
8. Build a sandcastle
Of course!

Umm... Yes! We made a den thing in the funny tree thing behind the bushes, it was really cool!
11. Make a painting using your hands and feet
Obviously
12. Organise your own teddy bears' picnic
Um... can't say I remember doing that, possibly at Kindy.
13. Have your face painted
Many times
14. Play with a friend in the sand
Yep
15. Make some bread
Um... nope, I made some bread when I was 11 but not 10 I don't think... Unless cake counts of course.
16. Make snow angels
Sorry, never saw snow til I was about 10-ish and we didn't make snow angels we just skiied and made snowmen. I probably made a sand angel...
17. Create a clay sculpture
Err... playdough sculpture?
18. Take part in a scavenger hunt
More than one - did some at easter looking for our easter eggs :D and other random ones at various times.
19. Camp out in the garden
Yes! For my adventure badge at school, me and mum camped in a tent in our backgarden, but when we woke up I touched the tent and the rain came through...
20. Bake a cake
For sure
21. Feed a farm animal
Yep, in kindy I got to feed a little lamb :) One of our teachers called Olivia brought it in and I fed it (as did several other kids) with a little baby bottle type thing with milk in it. Awww....
22. Pick some strawberries
Um... probably, picked rasberries, and I think strawberries too... yeah.
23. Play pooh sticks
I think so, vague memory, down south we went to a park and I think I played it there... possibly.
24. Recognise five different bird species
Uh... probably not, wasn't that interested in birds.
25. Find some worms
Yep
26. Ride a bike through a muddy puddle
Couldn't ride a bike til I was about 14 so no, possibly a tricycle though.
27. Make and fly a kite
Yep, flown proper kites and made and flown plastic bag kites on string :)
28. Plant a tree
I think so, yeah, at school.
29. Build a nest out of grass and twigs
Probably.
30. Find ten different leaves in the park
Yeah I think so.
31. Grow vegetables
Well we did grow parsley and tomatoes and stuff in our back garden but I don't know if I had anything to do with it. I probably helped a little bit so I'll say yes.
32. Make breakfast in bed for your parents
Yep, Mother/Father's Days.
33. Make a mini assault course in your garden/the park
Probably yes actually, the park not our garden, didn't actually make anything just like made up games pretending the tree was a vault or whatever... hmm.. I'll say yes.

So not too bad about 26, a few 'um... possibly?'s so my childhood wasn't too deprived :P.

Random Update

Hello :) I feel rather random today. Not quite sure why... Ooh, bought the 'oink' strawberry flavoured chocolate bar from Thorntons earlier, hadn't had one of those since like last year or something. It's fantastic!
Have a few new favourites - New favourite song (well at least for this week): Lay your hands - Simon Webbe
And 'new' definate favourite food for the mo: Homemade Spinach lasagna - I don't think I could ever get sick of it, and it's healthy-ish! (Ok I might be sick of it if I had to only eat it and nothing else for a year but otherwise... it's great :D)

Lol, just remembered something Johannes said ages ago - "I like non sequiturs, like asparagus and metalogy"
Pure genius :P. And I agree with Phillip's comment that it's quite hard to find non sequiturs sometimes because you keep thinking of obscure links, lol.

I've got out several cook books from the library and have been baking a couple of things, I made Carrot Cakes (Just one cake sliced up into ickle cakes) which was very very nice :) and I made Lemon Drizzle cake which was too sweet because of all the icing (Never thought I'd say that, I'm quite a sweet tooth) Yeah, too much sugar...

Looking at the cook books there are several things I want to try, I've written them down in a list which I will post here because there's not much else to do...
  1. Brandy Snaps (Pg 19, Luscious Afternoon Teas)
  2. Lemon Drizzle cake (Pg 63, Luscious Afternoon Teas) - Done
  3. Blueberry muffins (Pg 12, Muffins and small cakes) - blueberry muffins are always good
  4. Cheesecakes (Pg 76, Muffins and small cakes)
  5. Buttermilk scones (Pg 82, Muffins and small cakes) - Not going to do these as the English seem to not understand the buttermilk exists and therefore do not stock it in their supermarkets
  6. Carrot cakes (Pg 84, Muffins and small cakes) - Done
  7. Jewel cake (Pg 112, Cakes and Cake Decorating)
  8. Also would like to do a plain sponge or madeira as I love madiera and haven't made a sponge since I was about 10.
  9. Oh and a Ladybird cake (Pg 174, Cakes and Cake Decorating) - but only for a special Carol occasion as she has a thing for ladybirds :)

Have been reading bits of 'Watching the English' which is an anthropogigal book about the English, hidden rules etc. Such as the 'weather talk' and how you have weather talk to break the ice like 'Ooh, nice day isn't it' or 'Rather cold today isn't it' and then a positive reply even if it contradicts itself like 'Yes it is quite chilly' or 'Yes, but I don't really feel the cold much so it feels quite warm'. And other stuff like the compliment rules, with women it tends to be compliment and counter compliment like 'Oh your hair looks lovely, I wish I had hair like that, my hair's terrible' and 'Oh no, I think it's really nice, my hair's all straight and boring'. Whereas with men it's 'Mine's better than yours'. And how guys are typically not able to gossip - or that's the front they put up anyway lol. Yeah, haven't read that much, not sure if I will read any more as I've got lots more to read too...

Nicked Carol's book that she got out and read it (til about 2am this morning before going to sleep...), It's called 'Next Best thing' and it's really good, about this woman who's actually really underappreciated but doesn't realise it sometimes and has a daughter with her partner Will whom she lives with, she falls in love with this guy she meets at the theatre, later discovers he's engaged to one of her friends (but only because he feels he has to get married because being his age and not married people start wondering if there's something wrong with you or you're gay) but she doesn't want to break it off with Will because she hates the thought of Liberty (her daughter) being brought up without both parents together. Yeah, she's with Will til like the third to last page or something when (after Rupert - the guy she's in love with - has broken off the engagement with Lydia - the rather vain and non-domestic friend) she leaves him (though does say he can see Liberty whenever she likes and isn't going to bug him for money or anything like that) and goes to live with Rupert. Aww... I love romance novels :P.

Yeah, so I've got more of those type (but not quite as gooey as that one I think) of books to read over the holidays.

Going to see Pirates of the Caribbean 2 tonight with friends, that should be good. Don't really like 'scary' parts but the Jack Sparrow comedy should make up for it, lol. The trailer was really cool, one bit which I was amused at was this: "Elizabeth, that outfit really does not flatter you, it should be a dress or nothing. I happen to have no dress in my cabin" - Jack. Oh, and Elizabeth - "You know, there will come a time when you have the chance to do what's right" Jack - "I love those moments, I like to wave at the as they pass by" (Note: These are not exact quotes) So yeah, fun :)

Oh yes and I might be going to NZ a bit earlier than I thought :o, but not for that long if I do cause Dad was going to have to pay this guy about $6000 to dig drainage stuff in one of our houses (My first house - which is now rented out) and Dad thinks it might be better for me and him to go over and him to do it because then it doesn't cost much more (if anything) and I get to go over which I've been wanting to do for aaaages, without spending extra money and stuff. Only thing is finding a cheap-ish flight in one of the right time periods and making sure that Sarah will be in NZ when we want to go as that's a very major point in me going there as I would sort of like to see my best friend that I haven't seen in about 4 years...

So yeah, at the moment, Life is good.

Yes! Internet :D

Internet is working again, It's terrific! Yeah, it really annoyed me because I couldn't e-mail, blog, chat on msn or anything so nyer. Specially since I couldn't talk to my best friend Sarah and she's on the other side of the world, so consequently ended up ringing her early yest morning and talking to her for about an hour and a half (I was only supposed to talk for about an hour because it's rather expensive...), yeah... But it being back is useful, ended up going to the library to find recipe books because I want to do more baking seeing as I've got more time now it's hols. Wish I could get a job, how annoying that I'm only 15, can't get a job til Dec! *sigh* Yeah, done a little more painting but not much, getting a bit annoyed as the one I'm working on sketching out isn't working the way I want it to. I did a painting of and for Sarah and posted it to NZ and she just got it yest, or today (I don't know, what day is it in NZ and when did she get it? :S) and liked it so that was good :). Had quite a busy-ish day (in a relaxed way), went to meet Tash, Clarky and Sam outside school at 11.30 where we went in a got the CD's with loads of photos on them from Prom, Shirt signing, Posh Togs etc. then went home to stare at the for a bit, lol, then went back and met people by the bus station and we went wandering round town - Tash, Sam, Clarky and Jodie. Looked in various shops, ended up going back past my house on a bus to one of the parks and hanging out there for a bit, at 4 pm I went to take the bus back into town and met Carol at the train station and we went off to TK Max to do some shopping, me just to try on stuff and her to actually buy something. Looked at various tops and dresses and ended up getting nothing (surprise surprise) but did find a sparkly (slightly dark-ish but still bright) sky blue top I really want, it looks pretty good on me but I don't happen to have 13 quid spare at the mo. *sigh* such is life, lol. Carol bought a really pretty strapless dress (well with addable see through straps) that's white with black flowery patterns all over it. Oh yes - not sure if I mentioned before, Carol's got her engagement ring :D it's very Sparkly :P. So yes. That's life.

Introduction Day

It was introduction day today at the college I'm going to in September, I really enjoyed it and it's helped me decide on my choices for A levels.
The sessions I took were History, Art, Maths, Psychology and Information Technology.
History was quite an amusing session, the teacher was very enthusiastic :D, I'm definately taking History and I'm taking the Political Course as I'm far more interested in the Nazis and Lenin than the other stuff, there's the American Course but I don't like the New Deal or the Cold War so I didn't want to do that and the Tudor Course but I didn't really want to do that either because I'm not as interested. So yeah, session one was pretty good.
Art and Design - Fine Art was good, I've now decided pretty much definately not to take it, it'll be too much work on top of everything else and I don't like doing quite so much design work. I know I'd be sure to learn so many new techniques and maybe find a new favourite medium but I think I'll just try to find them out on my own.
Maths was pretty good too, didn't really learn anything new, though I'm possibly going to go for the 'Pure Maths' AS rather than the 'Maths' (with Stats or Mechanics) AS because it would be more challenging, more algebra (I think) and probably overall better for me.
Psychology I really liked, the guy taking it was a bit mad, slightly scary but in a good way sort of. I found it really interesting and I think I meet most of the criteria he suggested for taking the AS - I don't mind/am alright at essay writing, I don't mind things that never have yes/no answers, I like/am good at maths so yeah I think I'll probably take this instead of Art.
And lastly, IT wasn't too bad, the teacher wasn't too great, she was rather enthusiastic if a little repetitive but yeah. Looking at the sheet she gave us and a little of the info she talked about I think I'll probably take computing instead because it's more html/webpage design/programming though it'll be harder I think I'd enjoy it more, I do like spreadsheets and stuff but I think I'd find computing more interesting.
Wish I'd gone to AS/A2 German but I didn't really have the space and didn't know if I should go as I'm planning to do GCSE - I could have taken it instead of History but I didn't really think about it...

So when I applied I put down: AS Maths, AS ICT, AS Fine Art, AS History - Dictators and GCSE German
Now I'm thinking I want to do: AS Pure Maths, AS Computing, AS Psychology, AS History - Dictators and GCSE German.

So all in all it was a useful day.

After coming back from the college I wandered round with some friends, ended up at the park and after a while walked home - totally baked, don't seem to have burned which is good. Not too much else planned for this week. Must go now, Carol's chess set beckons.

Mates, Dates and Purple hair

Well hey, I didn't know what to put as a title...
Mates: Finally got my birthday present sent off to Sarah (very belated) so it should arrive in about a week-ish. Also Carol's engagement ring should be ready really soon! :D
Dates: 1st of July 2006, 8th of June (Sarah's birthday)
Purple hair: Well, tinted purple, just done, got my dad to help me actually, sort of missed a bit so there's a bit of brownyness patchiness vaguely but it hasn't changed that much so it doesn't look too bad. Yeah.
So tomorrow I've got to get up early to go do a puppet ministry 'gig' at some other church then come back to my church (where I'll be late for welcome team) and then go off to the youth group barbeque which should be fun.
All's well that ends well.

Belles of the ball (oh yeah, and the guys)

Lol, Prom was yesterday night and it was great! I took quite a few pictures but will still have to buy the CD from school as I didn't take pictures of absolutely everyone. Didn't do much all day yest til like 5.30 when I changed into my top, Carol did my hair and make up and then got all my other stuff on - skirt, shrug and yeah - got my bag and left. Got to Hayley's about 6.35-ish, was really nervous bout the prom, not quite sure why... So we took loads of pictures, Tash had a bit of a crisis when she dropped a bit of her drink down her dress but that got all sorted out and she looked lovely :). Then there was the whole limo thing, limo had over heated, they were sending another one etc. and so eventually, a rude limo driver and a short while later we got to the prom an hour late, well hey, loads of other people were still to arrive. The prom was a whirl of gorgeous girls in dresses, formal guys, food, drink and dancing. Lots of dancing. In stilletto heels. Most of the girls were going 'ow' once in a while as their feet stopped being numb for a second, lol. But that was great, well right til the end when loads of people made a circly thing and jumped up and down moving towards us and some girl stabbed me with her stilletto but nevermind. Then me, Tash and Jodie went to the front desk, Tash got the guy to call a taxi for us and off we went again. Got to Sams, spent lots of time chatting to various people but the majority chatting to Dan, ate drank, nicked a bit of Dans alcohol, confirmed that it tasted like gummi bears mixed with alcohol. A bit later about 20 or more people turned up who weren't invited and weren't allowed in, got a bit rowdy but it turned out ok - it was people who were supposed to be at other after parties which had been cancelled and so they wanted to gatecrash - but yeah, as I said all turned out ok. Then I had to go at 2.30am-ish, straight home, removed mass of headpins, brushed teeth and straight to bed.

So overall it was definately a fantastic end to school!
